Rational

  • Rubistar is recommended for three reasons:
    • Rubrics are already organized and simply need to be customized
    • Organizing the rubrics would not create a significant time commitment to distract from schedules and commitments
    • Rubrics could be adapted for lessons that are already intended to be taught
  • Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets:
    • Use of the graph would give teachers important information about which standards would need to be revisited and focused on before new information was introduced
    • Would allow teachers to view individually struggling students
    • Graphs would show teachers whether lack of success was individual or with a particular concept
    • Students would be able to view the graphs after an assessment to set personal and group goals for the next assessment
    • Easy to navigate and may be a tool that has been used before for a professional task
    • According to the survey spreadsheets were used 20% of the time by teacher two for assessing while graphing was used 0% of the time by 100% of the teachers
